Panther Securities sells Wimbledon Studios in London for £18m
StockMarketWire.com - Panther Securities said it had sold its freehold interest in the Wimbledon Studios film and television production property in London for £18m.
The studios, which where were built in 1970 and hosted productions including 'The Bill' and 'The Iron Lady', were sold to a nominee of the Scottish Widows Property Authorised Contractual Scheme.
The property had a book value of £13.6m as at 31 December and was originally purchased vacant, including stock, equipment and fixed assets, for around £4.75m in September 2010.
Panther Securities said that it had initially tried to run its own film studio at the property but the venture ultimately failed.
Proceeds from the sale would be partly used to pay down debt, and partly used to consider other opportunities, the company said.
